These pictures were taken within an hour of birth and show her fully distended belly. The NICU doctors commented that they had never seen an abdomen that large on a baby that young. We'll take that as a compliment.

Let me explain some of the tubes and things - the thing sticking in her mouth is the ventilator to help her breathe. She's breathing pretty well, and the machine is at a pretty low setting. The tiny tube on her belly is an IV to deliver her TPN nutrition (like mother like daughter) and other medications. They are also monitoring her heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, CO2 levels, and temperature.
